Biography
Since the launching of her first collection in the fall of 2002, Mylène Bélair, the designer behind the Mylène B label, has never since ceased to amaze and delight Montreal’s fashion hub.
She graduated in 1994, from the Centre d'enseignement professionnel Pierre-Dupuy (that has now become l'École des métiers des Faubourgs) with a degree in Design and Clothing Techniques. Over the next 5 years, she acquires various working experience in the Clothing Industry as well as with a Quebec Designer (Muse, Christian Chenail).
In 1998, she decides to combine her creative talents with her technical expertise and her skills for entrepreneurship and launches her own made-to-measure business. Four years later, she introduces her very own women’s ready-to-wear collection. With just very few garments the Mylene B “look” is created: a classic and well tailored garment, designed with intricate detail and of impeccable quality where extra care is given to the finishing touches.
In the fall of 2003, Mylène went into partnership with her mother, Rita Berthiaume. As of May 2004, Mylène now greets her clientele at her very own new boutique/workshop, much bigger and more accessible to the public. The latter is located at 501, De Castelneau Street East, in the Villeray sector of Montreal.
In March 2005, the takes part, for the very first time, in The Montreal Fashion Week, where she presents her Fall/Winter 2005-06 collection at the Godin Hotel.
Since 2005, Mylène B’s clothing lines are also sold in two new locations on the Plateau Mont-Royal in Montal.
The readers of La Presse, Voir, ICI, The Gazette, Fashion magazines such as Loulou, Elle Québec, Adorable, Châtelaine and the Montreal Shopping Guide have also had the opportunity to view Mylène B’s apparel. In 2006, her clothing lines will be sold in various boutiques throughout Canada.
